Reviews
  • Amazing Series

I love reading this series. I can go back a million times and re-read it and never get bored.

  • Fantasy Without Nonsense

The books grew and matured with both their audience and their author. They start as a serious yet still young adult coming of age story, and grow more “real” with each addition to the series. Though this collection doesn’t include Murtaugh (the most recent addition to this world), it’s a perfect example of how real, raw, and tragic the themes and events have become. Christopher Paolini’s world is detailed and woven with mysteries that he often calls back to later. Passive moments that one would think nothing of become “ahhhh” moments quite frequently, either in the same book or across them as a whole. Again, Murtaugh is a perfect example of such moments being mentioned in the original four books as seemingly passive cryptic lore, only to come full circle and make perfect sense; Christopher Paolini clearly is very passionate about his creation and thorough in his craft. The magic system is probably the best, most logical system ever written. The cultures, religions, histories, and languages are all original and unique. The epic battles are well choreographed through narration so you can really picture the characters dance in your head. They’re also often very realistic, as far as fantasy adventure goes, in that a given character’s injuries are detailed and one can almost feel the pain as a blade might go through skin, muscle, and scrape along bone. The politics are very much so like a game of 3D chess, binding and endangering characters in ways not physical. Finally, what I like most is the no-nonsense way that the storytelling gets delivered. Some authors might try to force a sense of maturity with adult language, nudity, and other indulgences. I personally find those antics as oftentimes forced and counterproductive, resulting in a cringeworthy series seemingly written by an adult with the underdeveloped mind of a teenager. This series delivers such moments tastefully. What needs to be said is said, but never is it lingered upon, relied upon, or forced upon the audience. The only complaint truly I have with the series as a whole is the absolute tease that is the romance. Without spoiling events, let’s just say that such tender moments never seem to quite satisfy. All in all my favorite book series. 18/10 ingots of brightsteel.

  • Books

This was always a great pleasure reading! The books were full of excitement, tears, and most of all humor in many parts. Wish it would go on to many more volumes!

  • Fantastic and nostalgic

My heart broke at the ending personally, I would love if there was a reboot to the series like how Boruto is to Naruto.

  • Arya is awesome!!

Okay this going to be a long, long review. So I’m a total Swiftie but that’s irrelevant. I’m only ten\eleven but I listened to the whole series on audiobook (cds!) and loved it. Then I read the books. When my classmates saw me walk in with Brisingr they pretended to faint. Arya’s my favorite character and I hate Galbatorix. I also like Katrina and Roran’s relationship. Horst is also cool. Also see me on Keeper Of The Lost Cities, Wings Of Fire, The Land Of Stories, My Brother Sam Is Dead, Tiger Lily, Hunger Games, And The Hill We Climb. ERAGON + ARYA = ERAYA RORAN + KATRINA = RORINA SOPHIE + KEEFE = SOKEEFE
