Slednecks Mix Tape Vol. 3

Almost two decades ago, before there were any other sled films or X Games, a small group of friends started running around the mountains of Wyoming with an old film camera and some snowmobiles. They called themselves Slednecks. This group of rebels began jumping their snowmobiles higher and farther than anyone ever had. They searched out steeper mountain faces to descend and deeper powder to destroy. Their new style of riding was laughed at by traditional snowmobilers and their punk rock fuck authority attitude got them blacklisted by a conservative industry. This rebel army fought and clawed their way to continue making films with one goal in mind, to revolutionize the sport. The Slednecks army has had many soldiers step up to the front lines and lead the charge. Chris Brown is now on his tenth tour of duty. Since Slednecks 7, Chris has been one of the most well rounded snowmobilers on the planet. Whether he is launching huge cliffs, carving technical lines thru tight trees or charging his turbo up narrow chutes, Chris Brown is always pushing the limits of himself and the sport. There are only a small amount of people on the planet who have the skills and courage to be pioneers. Heath Frisby, Joe Parsons, and the Moore brothers are some of those people. They continue to invent new tricks and do things they were told were impossible. MixTape 3 showcases them in what may be the best ever Winter X Games competition. Many of the new young guns of the sport credit the Slednecks film series as the spark that got them into the sport. One of those athletes is Brad Gilmore. He is a true big mountain bad ass. Brad's segment from Slednecks 16 is one of our all-time favorites so we included it for your viewing pleasure. The Slednecks MixTape series pays tribute to those early pioneers, and to the wave of soldiers that marched behind them, revolutionizing a sport forever. Two generational drivers backed by two powerhouse organizations will provide unparalleled access on their journey of becoming the first to run a NASCAR Cup Series race car on a Formula 1 racetrack in the Middle East. The 12x championship McLaren team has specially prepared one of its F1 race cars for 7x NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson so he can show the world what he can do behind the wheel of a F1 race car. 2x Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso will be part of history piloting the No. 48 Chevrolet around the Bahrain Int. Circuit, the first time a NASCAR Cup Series race car has been on a F1 track in the Middle East. Prior to the exhibition, Johnson will visit McLaren Technology Centre in Surrey, England to tour the facility and be one of the first NASCAR drivers to utilize the state of the art F1 simulator to gain valuable experience before getting behind the actual wheel a few short days later. They then turn vigilante as they stalk the mean streets of Los Angeles with Moose and Neen Williams, on the prowl for handrails, gaps and dangerous spots of that nature. The Deathwish Video is an epic and controversial film that is frank and original in its treatment of urban skateboarding and the average citizen’s helplessness in dealing with it. Welcome to Stab in the Dark 2017 starring Jordy Smith. We are on a quest to find the best high-performance surfboard in the world. Surfing, as in art, women, literature and style is subjective. We are well aware that this is a flawed concept. However, currently, it’s the best we got. Okay, so here’s how we tango. We commission 12 of the world’s best shapers and ask them to shape us their best high-performance surfboard based on a height and weight. The shapers deliver the boards blank: No logos, no branding, thrusters only - clean and white as God’s shoeshine. The shapers don’t know the surfer, the surfer doesn’t know the shapers. It’s a blind taste test, if you will. This is our third installment of Stab in the Dark. Year one (2015) featured Julian Wilson in West Oz. He gave Darren Handley of DHD the prize of “Best Shaper in the World”. Year two (2016) starred Dane Reynolds in South Africa. There he crowned John Pyzel (the shaper of John John Florence) the best on earth. In 2017, we took World Number One (at the time), Jordy Smith to the Mentawai Islands. 12 shapers go in and one comes out the champion of the world.
