Tyler Childers: Reimagined

Tyler Childers: Reimagined

In this captivating short film, country and bluegrass sensation Tyler Childers opens up about the rich storytelling traditions in his native Kentucky. “I sat around a lot with my dad—around hunting clubs, and outside of church and barbershops—listening to fellas older than me tell tall tales and flat-out lies,” he says. “I guess some of that rubbed off on me.” Gathered in the same Nashville studio where he recorded his first two albums, Purgatory and Country Squire, he shares acoustic versions of standout songs while reflecting on his creative inspirations. “First and foremost, I write for myself and my own sanity, and from there I write a lot of love songs for Senora,” he says. (His wife, the songwriter Senora May, is the subject of the first song, “Lady May.”)

Jeff Beck: Live in Tokyo

Jeff Beck: Live in Tokyo

Jeff Beck is undeniably one of the world’s greatest guitar players. Technically brilliant, he is renowned for pushing musical boundaries and has excelled across many different genres from rock and jazz to pop and blues. “Live In Tokyo” was filmed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan on April 9th this year. These Japanese dates were the first to feature Jeff Beck’s new backing band of Jonathan Joseph (drums), Nicolas Meier (guitars) and Rhonda Smith (bass) and the setlist includes some material from his new, as yet unreleased, studio album. In contrast to Beck’s previous visual releases, both filmed in small clubs, “Live In Tokyo” is filmed in a major concert arena and has a very different, more expansive feel. Jeff Beck is a true guitar legend and this show captures him at his very best.

Made with its director’s customary precision and wit, this triptych of stories pays playful tribute to the home of Stax Records, Sun Studio, Graceland, Carl Perkins, and, of course, the King, who presides over the film like a spirit. Jarabe de Palo: Tour Americano 14/15

Jarabe de Palo: Tour Americano 14/15

A band's quality is measured by their live performance. But what happens when a band meets an audience in a venue where the only thing between them is the stage. With the edition of SOMOS (February 2014) we wanted to pay homage to the audience that has been following us for so many years in America, because this continent was basically what inspired us for this album. We started touring in 2014 and played 70 concerts. For 2015, we would like to present the AMERICAN TOUR, with another 70 concerts (of which we have already performed 37). In case anyone hasn't been able to attend any of our shows, here is a taster of what happened exactly one year ago in Mexico City's Metropolitan Theater, which will continue to happen in 2015, every time Jarabe meets its audience.

Move Me Brightly - Celebrating Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday

Move Me Brightly - Celebrating Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday

“Move Me Brightly” is a film based around a musical gathering at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios in San Rafael, California to mark what would have been Jerry Garcia’s 70th birthday on 3rd August, 2012. The revolving line-up of performers included fellow Grateful Dead members along with many guest artists who joined together to celebrate Jerry Garcia’s life and work. The evening’s programme was originally conceived by film director Justin Kreutzmann, the son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill, and the complete five hour set was webcast live. This film combines live performances from the studio alongside interviews with Jerry Garcia’s family members, Grateful Dead bandmates and other musicians who played with or were inspired by him. It is fitting tribute to one of rock music’s most creative and imaginative composers and performers.
