Jesus Christ did more than we give Him credit for. In fact, we have robbed Him of some of the glory He deserves. Just as Orthodox Jews still project the Messiah’s first coming into the future, so do many of today’s Christians who believe the Messiah’s second coming is still in the future. We are waiting on Him to arrive and be the avenging hero of our souls, while He’s waiting on us to recognize He’s accomplished it already. The book of Revelation is a detailed, prophetic explanation of how the Kingdom proclaimed by God’s ancient prophets came about. It described the end of the Old and the beginning of the everlasting New. But it’s difficult for us to understand how Jesus fully initiated AND finalized the setting up of this Kingdom if we aren’t familiar with more events of our history. Once we acknowledge these historical facts, it’ll be easier to see how the prophecies of Revelation have already been fulfilled – and why they won’t ever be repeated.

Li Er, the Old Master (571–500 BC),was a great philosopher of ancient China. His Laws Divine and Human of 5,000 words in 81 chapters is an influential philosophical work in the world. In the very beginning of the first chapter of his book, Lao Zi says: “The divine law may be spoken of, but it is not the common law.” By common law Lao Zi means those enforced by human beings. The divine law is objective truth which does not depend on human will for its existence, while human laws do. The former may be called natural philosophy, while the latter social philosophy. The former will not change when the latter does. That is the reason why the Old Master says that the divine law is not the common law...

Although not an ethnographic account of Hawaiian healing, Long's book is enfused by anecdotes and personal experiences in the islands of Hawaii. Most Esoteric authors look to Western occult traditions, or possibly to borrowed Hindu or Buddhist concepts. Max Freedom Long, on the other hand, was fascinated with the shamans of Hawaii, the Kahuna. This book is not, an ethnographic account of Hawaiian healing, it is informed by anecdote and personal experience in the islands. Long spent many years in Hawaii, and besides several books on 'Huna' he also apparently wrote several mystery novels in that setting. This book, one of the first he wrote on the subject of Huna, is typical of the others, and if you like this, you'll probably like his other writings.

The death of Jesus is one of the most hotly debated questions in Christianity today. In his massive and highly publicized The Death of the Messiah, Raymond Brown -- while clearly rejecting anti-Semitism -- never questions the essential historicity of the passion stories. Yet it is these stories, in which the Jews decide Jesus' execution, that have fueled centuries of Christian anti-Semitism. Now, in his most controversial book, John Dominic Crossan shows that this traditional understanding of the Gospels as historical fact is not only wrong but dangerous. Drawing on the best of biblical, anthropological, sociological and historical research, he demonstrates definitively that it was the Roman government that tried and executed Jesus as a social agitator.
