Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish

Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish

Grace Burrowes makes Christmas wishes come true in this dazzling yuletide Regency romance where getting snowed-in at the family estate is the perfect way for Lady Sophie to rekindle the desire she thought she'd cast aside.

All she wants is a little peace, but Sophie's holiday is about to heat up…

Lady Sophie Windham has maneuvered a few days to herself at the ducal mansion in London before she must join her family for Christmas in Kent—her last chance for some peace and quiet before the holidays. Suddenly trapped in Town by a snowstorm, she finds herself with an abandoned baby and only the assistance of a kind, handsome stranger standing between her and complete disaster.

With his estate in ruins, Vim Charpentier expected complications this holiday season, but he couldn't have predicted that Sophie Windham would be among them. His growing attraction for Sophie is the only thing that warms his spirits. But Sophie's been keeping secrets, and it will take more than a kiss under the mistletoe to make her wishes come true…

  • Disappointing

I was in the mood for a good Christmas book, but this wasn’t it. I was bored from beginning to end. The other books in the series were much better.

  • Lady's Sophie's Christmas Wish

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Sourcebook Casablanca Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a delightful tale. I really enjoyed the story of Wilhelm (Vim) and Sophia's (Sophie) along with Baby Kit (My Lord Baby). Unfortunately this is the first story of the series that I have read. It was just a little confusing as to the order and circumstances of birth of all of Sophie's siblings. Getting past that was easy if you just concentrate on the story though. There were scenes that had me laughing so hard and others were I couldn't stop the tears. While I so enjoy an English historical told in the proper English way, I was extremely happy to be reading on an e-reader. There were terms that just eluded my comprehension but reading a historical romance is such an enjoyable way to learn. I adored Vim and Sophie both. The way that they came together to care for Kit. Poor Kit, his mother abandons him to into her employer's care the wonderful Lady Sophia. Neither Sophie or Vim use their title when introducing themselves at the inn where they meet during London's worst snowstorm. This causes a great deal of mix-up between the characters and their intentions later! I did enjoy the multiple POV format that the author used. Getting into the different characters' mind really helped me to understand and enjoy them so much better. There were some bedroom scenes that were not written in graphic detail but would be more appropriate for someone over 18. If you enjoy a good historical romance, you may enjoy this one. The only con for me, there were some places that just seemed a little unnecessary and added to the word count but it did not detract from the story.
